My husband and I have been married 11 years and I try hard to be his girlfriend. He is not the traditional romantic, but does a great job showing me he loves me. We have two children we adopted from foster care: a girl, 28 months and a boy, 18 months old. My husband works hard so I can be a stay-at-home mommy for them.
Recently, we were leaving for a short weekend trip to a family event. On our way out the door I said, "Remind me to get dishwasher soap on our way home; we are out." Of course with the exhaustion of the trip and caring for our two toddlers, both of us forgot. Monday morning, my husband got up quietly, dressed in the dark, and let me sleep. I woke some time after he had left and started to get up, when he walked back through the door with dishwasher soap in his hands. I couldn't believe he would fight rush hour traffic both ways just to make my day easier. I always believed he would swim through shark-infested waters to bring me a lemonade, now I know for sure.
