Dr. Laura:
Like many of your listeners, I went to a large liberal university. The agenda pushed on me at every turn was unbiasedly feminist. Every avenue of media and education seemed to devalue the family. I was told to work full time, that I didn't need a man and so on. I always felt ashamed for having conservative beliefs.
My husband and I met during those years, and he knew that my one goal was to become a stay-at-home mom. I've read all your books, but the most touching to me are "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands," and "In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms." They helped me gain confidence in my decisions. My husband is my number one priority and it has made every part of our lives a blessing. He even brags about me to his friends!
My sister-in-law recently wondered how bored I must be. She told me I was wasting my life staying home with our daughter. Flabbergasted by her comment, my husband answered first: "She is the best mother and wife I have ever met. She is the core of our house. Without her, there would be no family. Our daughter and marriage is thriving because of the decision our family made. She is more valued in ten minutes at home with our daughter than she would be in 30 years at some job."
Thanks to you for giving me the tips and confidence to make our family so successful and happy.
Julie
