My husband has told me that he responds best when I'm just direct. He doesn't want to be perceived as a psychic.
If I perceive something isn't happening that I want, like going out on a date, I should simply say: "I wish we would spend more time together. How about going out?" To which he always responds: "Sure!"
He isn't deliberately ignoring my needs. He is a man and has different needs and he can't always anticipate mine. So instead of my waiting for him to figure out my subtle hints, or crying because he's not getting it, I just get right to the point and he appreciates that!
