It's Okay to Not Always Like Your Spouse
09/20/2012

Hi Dr. Laura,

My parents have been married for 43 years. Before my husband and I got married, my dad explained there are days when you will not be happy with your spouse. You might even feel you don't like them. And that's okay. Actually, it is totally normal. However, that doesn't mean you will stop loving them.

Ten years later... My husband and I don't always agree. But we never get into a full out fight because one of us will stop and say, "Hey, I don't like you right now." That's our cue to know to back up and let the other have some room. And despite not liking each other at that moment, we still and always will love each other.
