Hello Dr. Laura,
I have a confession to make. When my husband and I were younger, we broke one of your rules. We got married when I was 18 he was 20. Neither of us had ever lived outside of our parents houses and didn't have much experience in life.
Even though we broke this rule, I got lucky...he is still perfect for me. He has the patience to deal with my antics. He even takes care of me after a hard day at work. He fixes everything around the house. He says, "If I can't fix it, then it is not broke." I love his smile, his sense of humor, his hard work ethics, and the fact that he makes me #1 in his life.
Our friends often make fun of us for walking hand-in-hand, showing that we are still in love after all of these years. I just wanted you to know that yes we were young and dumb, but we made the commitment NOT to a throw away marriage. Sticking it out, through the thick and thin was worth it.
Thank you for giving us your time! And thank you for the countless advice.
Diana
