Dealing With Loneliness
09/24/2019

Hi Dr. Laura,

Last summer, the woman I loved and was married to for 17 years decided that she didn't want to stay married to me. I loved her and did everything I can to take the best care of her. I have always been affectionate and been very caring. I did everything to save the marriage but nothing worked. I was devastated.

For a long time I stopped caring about myself and didn't care if I lived or died. She was my world. The loneliness I felt as so hard. It seemed everything reminded me of my ex-wife. To help me with everything I felt a need to have a close relationship with god. Along with that I went to counseling. I had a great support system with my siblings and friends. What helped so much was to be able to talk about the emotions I was going through. It never helps to bottle everything up inside.

Today my life is so much better. I am a happy person again and I have gotten my life back together. What people need to know is: When you go through hard times, it sucks. The important thing is to get up. Brush yourself off and never give up.

I love your show and you are a blessing to us all. I listen every day and I admire you. Thanks for being the person you are.
