I lost my husband three years ago. At that time, I thought my world had ended, but I had a very supportive family and a few good friends to help. I really broke down six months after he died and went to see a grief counselor, who reminded me that grief is a feeling and it will rear its ugly head without any warning. Then, while listening to your program, I heard you ask the question "
between now and dead, where do you want to be and what is going to make you happy?"
That got me thinking. I wanted to be closer to my family, so a year later, I sold our home of 20 years and bought 5 acres of land and built my dream home within 15 minutes of my children and grandchildren. I've also started traveling, both domestically and internationally.
If I would never have heard you use that phrase "
between now and dead..." I'm not sure I would be where I am today. I still check in with my grief counselor, and when I told him about your phrase, he loved it. Thank you, Dr. Laura for getting me to think about the future, because now I'm happy and content with my new life.
