I work in neonatal intensive care and we have many babies who were born too early, or born full-term, but sick. We cannot allow stuffed toys in the isolettes or cribs for many reasons, but realized the need for some sort of comforting noise for our infants. We contacted the company that markets the "heartbeat bears" and asked if we could buy just the small battery operated unit that goes up the bear's bottom. They gladly supplied us with several of those units, and we use them 24/7 for many of our babies. They are the greatest thing ever for sick and/or premature babies!

I thought it was interesting that you and your husband discovered this for your boy when he was an infant. Whoever thought of this device deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, because it brings more peace than anything I have come across in a very long time!
