September 14, 2016Changing And Learning New Values
Hi Dr. Laura,
Thank you so much for many years of great listening and great advice! Your voice is so solid. It's greatly needed in this challenging world of changing values and roles. I hope you never retire.
My wife and I have gained much insight into our marriage and ourselves from you.
- We have learned to take the feelings most of the time out of many conversations and circumstances.
- I have learned to love her more because of her effort to understand my view when she puts her emotions aside.
- She has become more understanding and unselfish.
Thank You so much! I read a quote the other day and all I could think of was how much you would like it and also add further insight.
Here you go:
“People are not better off when they are given maximum personal freedom to do what they want. They’re better off when they are enshrouded in commitments that transcend personal choice—commitments to family, God, craft and country.” David Brooks, “The Age of Possibility,” New York Times, Nov. 16, 2012
