Dear Dr. Laura,

At my bridal shower, my aunt gave the best piece of marriage advice. She talked about how every morning, she gets up and makes coffee. She takes her coffee with sugar and wants it on the counter for quick and easy access.

She used to get upset with her husband, because at some point throughout the day, he would put the sugar up in the cupboard. And every morning, she would pull the sugar right back down. She couldn't understand why he wouldn't just leave the sugar on the counter for her so she wouldn't have to pull down every morning.

One day it hit her, he was probably thinking the same things about her. Why couldn't she just put the sugar back up when she was done, so he didn't have to put it back up every day. It's all perspective. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and look at things from their point of view.

P.S. They just celebrated their 20th anniversary this past weekend. And the sugar was in the cupboard.
