Teaching My Boy The Red Flags

Dear Dr. Laura:

My son is very young, but has already asked questions about what his wife would look like and be like!  I took his questions seriously, and shared all the positive qualities, morals and values that he may want to look for when he is ready to start dating.  My goal is for him to take his time to really get to know someone and see over time if they are committed to a lifetime together.

I'm horrified at how I have seen some wives treat their husbands.  I'm sickened by how some women use their children as manipulative tools.  I don't ever want to see that happen to my son, so I'm teaching him as he asks how to identify that kind of behavior so he can run in the other direction before it's too late!
