I'm Still Grateful That I heard Your Words
Dr. Laura:
Over twenty years ago, I remember you saying that a divorce is not the kids' problem, and if the parents have to be geographically separated, one of us should move. Well, I followed your advice. When my son decided he wanted to live with his date in another city, I took a sabbatical, packed up my things and moved. That turned out to be the best thing I ever did!
Not only did my son thrive by having his parents in the same town, even though we didn't live together because we were divorced, but he is now married to a wonderful young woman. He is a good husband and finished law school this year and got himself a great job. He doesn't want to make the same choices that his dad and I made, but he doesn't resent us for having made some of those choices. Rather, he embraces the love of his family and has passion for the work he does. After all these years, I'm still grateful that I heard your words when I needed them.
Your loyal fan,
Celeste
