October 5, 2015My Wife's Revelation
Dear Dr. Laura:
I met my wife and after only a year of dating, we married. Over those six years of our marriage, I noticed my wife was extremely self-centered, and I felt very alone. I thought that until my son was up and out of the house in 18 years I would be miserable because of her attitude. My wife knew I was a listener of yours, and she said she didn't like how you spoke to people. I believe it was because you spoke truth that she didn't want to hear.
After several discussions, she bought your book "
The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands," but she didn't read it until we hit a crossroads, which scared her. She must have had a revelation, because when I got home from a business trip last week, she met me at the door with a passionate kiss and hug. She told me she missed me and she loved me. After dinner and getting the kids to bed, she told me she was sorry for the way she had been treating me. She couldn't believe I stayed with her all these years. With tears in her eyes, she told me she appreciated all I had done for her and our family and she didn't deserve me. Her sincerity was real.
It's been less than a week since she read your book, and I can honestly say I don't recognize my wife (and that's a very good thing!). She is caring, loving, sweet, tells me she loves me, kisses me and can't get close enough to me at night. I listened to your audiobook while on my business trip, and you are "spot on." We men are simple creatures and will move mountains for our wives if they would just do the few necessary things in life we crave. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Chris
