Adult Afternoons

Dear Dr. Laura:

Because of you, I experienced a wonderful moment with my sweet husband, and I wanted to thank you for helping to make it happen!  One afternoon recently, I realized the kids wouldn't be home because they were spending time with their grandparents.   I also knew my husband would be getting home early that day, and I decided to seize the moment.  I felt Mother Laura tapping me on the shoulder saying, "Be his girlfriend!"

So, I sent him an unashamedly suggestive text spelling out EXACTLY what I was looking forward to once he arrived home with no kids in the house to interrupt us.  He immediately texted back "I'm on my way!"  I ran to the bedroom, freshened up my makeup and put on something I know he likes.  I heard the garage door open, propped myself up on the bed and waited.  Nothing happened.  I waited some more, and still, nothing happened.  I started to get huffy and thought "What is he doing?  He knows I'm waiting for him!"  So, full of attitude, I jumped out of bed and stomped into the kitchen, half upset and half worried.  As I entered the kitchen, I stopped dead in my tracks.  There stood my sweet husband, in all his naked glory, with a big smile on his face pouring a glass of my favorite wine.  He said "I got your text.  ADULT AFTERNOON!"  

We had an incredible afternoon and very much enjoyed our time together.  Had I not listened to your wisdom every day, I don't know that I would have so quickly thought of sending him that text.  I'm actively making choices to do better as a wife and girlfriend every day.  And my husband sees that and it's making all the difference in our marriage!
