There are lots of ways to be smart! We need a range of abilities--analytical, creative, social & emotional, and practical--and the motivation to use them. Yes, we are probably born with tendencies toward particular strengths and thinking styles in these areas, but all of them are affected by what we learn and experience.

I don't subscribe to unconditional relationships, whether they are by blood, geography, gender, race, religion, or friendship.
Recently, I had a situation in my personal life that brought this concept to the fore. I (and others) had gotten deeply involved with a lovely person who was in a destructive relationship. When it broke up...again...we were all asked to be supportive

Recently, you finished a call with a mother of 3 who didn't feel motivated. You responded to her about farmers having to go out in the rain and that they didn't have the luxury to feel "motivated" to take care of their farms and children.I laughed because I have 16 goats and 2 dogs. Years ago, I called you, saying I was debating moving about 5 hours drive away from my elderly mother... You reminded me that I had an obligation to continue visiting my mother and helping her out with various chores, regardless of my individual preferences.
